Chorus Departs for Kazakhstan and Czech Republic
Departing for Kazakhstan on June 23, members of the Touring Chorus are excitedly anticipating renewing friendship with the members of Isker Boy’s Choir from Almaty, Kazakhstan. This past January, the members of both choruses shared a cultural exchange hosted by Tucson Boys Chorus and the Tucson-Almaty Sister Cities Committee where they together enjoyed a week of singing, sight-seeing and a combined concert shared with the Tucson community.
While in Kazakhstan, members of the Chorus will enjoy visiting the Museum of History of Kazakhstan, a Russian Orthodox Church and after viewing the Museum of Folk Instruments they will perform a concert. A number of joint public concerts are planned which include performances at the City Concert Hall and Student Palace Concert Hall. The boys will also enjoy visiting the Isker Boy Choir summer camp where they will perform another joint concert, after a shared lunch in the mountains and an evening bonfire!
The Touring Chorus will continue their journey as they join up with the High School Choir and continue for a week long tour to the Czech Republic. Both groups will participate in the 2nd International Boys and Men’s Choral Festival with other boys and men’s choirs from around the world all under the direction of world-renowned conductors James Litton, Diane Loomer, Robert Sund and Jaroslav Krcek. Concerts will take place in historic churches and theatres of Central Europe, including the famous Dvorak Hall in the Rudolfinum, Prague.
