Historical Highlights from the 1980s
1980 - Julian
Ackerley appointed new director. First tour in Mexico
as part of Octubre Internacional, an international arts festival throughout
Baja, California.
1982 - Recorded "Christmas Favorites" album. Chorus featured
on ABC’s Good Morning America program on Christmas Eve.
1983 - Four week concert tour in England.
1986 - Performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington,
D.C. as part of national Imagination Celebration.
1987 - Orient Tour ‘87 with performances
in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Hawaii.
1989 - 50th Anniversary activities planned including an alumni reunion
in October, an Eastern European concert tour to the Soviet Union, Poland,
East and West Germany, Austria, and other special concerts and activities.
